Tucked in between UAA Drive and the central parking garage is the Natural Sciences Building (NSB). From 2009 to 2012, this 29,000 square foot, 35-year- old structure was renovated and is now home to several laboratory classrooms for Psychology, Geological Studies, Biological Sciences, Physics, and Astronomy. The UAA Psychology Department is Alaska’s largest center for the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Also located in NSB is the ConocoPhillips GeoSciences Computing Lab, equipped with specialized energy exploration software tools and powerful computing capacity. Other specialized labs include Geological Sciences’ rock crushing lab and Physics’ plasma research lab.
