Nash Library

Sculpture and Nash

Built in 1948 and named for Dr. Mel A. Nash, the university's fifth president, the library is the central location for students to study during the semester. Students have access to the Student Success Center, Makerspace, 24/7 computer lab and podcast booth. In the basement is a commuter lounge for students who do not reside in campus housing, and a newly renovated student lounge providing students a place to hang out in between classes. Nash is home to the Opel Thorpe Museum of University History, which highlights USAO's rich heritage and serves as a lab for students wishing to pursue careers in public history; and the Music Pocket Library, which brings together numerous music resources including books, scores, CDs and vinyl, and listening and viewing stations. Visitors to Nash can also meet USAO's favorite cats Fred and Ginger, who came to live at Nash in 2021 and have greeted students ever since.
