Built in 1921 and originally named the "Fine Arts Building," Davis Hall was renamed in honor of Frances Dinsmore Davis, one of the university's most beloved faculty members and dean of the Fine Arts School from 1920-58. Davis Hall houses both the School of Visual & Performing Arts as well as the School of Humanities & Interdisciplinary Studies. The building also includes the Nesbitt Gallery, third-floor art gallery, Pauper’s Gallery, Little Theater, newly renovated music practice rooms, computer labs, multiple classrooms and faculty offices. The Davis Hall Amphitheater, the largest and most popular classroom on campus was renovated in 2022 and now features increased workspace, greater comfort, accessibility and contemporary accommodations.
