Over a century ago, Bret Harte pioneered journalism on the North Coast with his fearless reporting. Today, the building that bears his name is where you’ll find Humboldt's student journalists. The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication is located in Bret Harte House, and students are encouraged to drop in to use the building’s computer facilities, meet with an instructor, or catch up with classmates.
Bret Harte House is also home to the Cal Poly Humboldt Cannabis Studies Lab, an applied faculty-student research group housed in the Department of Sociology.
