Forestry Building

Can you imagine a better setting for studying forestry than the world’s only coastal redwood forest? Cal Poly Humboldt is in the heart of redwood country, and the Forestry Building is where students and faculty alike gather to study these incredible trees. Of course, faculty expertise ranges beyond just redwoods—Humboldt professors are experts in everything from forest fires to New Zealand’s giant eucalyptus trees.

Quick Fact

Humboldt Professor Steve Sillett is credited with measuring the world’s tallest tree, Hyperion, which reaches 379.1 feet. Scientists attribute the area’s large rainfall for helping the trees reach such impressive heights.
