Academic Walk

AWalk

In 1968 Duquesne University restricted traffic from Vickroy Street to create Academic Walk, or “A-Walk,” the long pedestrian mall extending through the heart of campus. It was once lined with row houses where successive waves of immigrants made their homes. As Duquesne grew, one by one these buildings became part of the University. They served as student housing, office space and classrooms. Laval House is the last of these Vickroy Street structures.
