Ed Harvey
Professor Emeritus at Allan Hancock College
b. Dec. 17th, 1947 in Montebello, CA
Ed Harvey was an educator, art collector, and visionary artist. In 1979, he began his Hancock career and taught studio art, art history, and animation for more than 20 years. Remembered by countless students and beloved by all, Harvey created and launched the animation courses and program at Allan Hancock College. This small group of ceramic sculptures was created during Harvey’s formative years as an art student at UCSB. The small sculptures are whimsical, strange, and enigmatic artworks. Donated to the college in 2020, the sculptures underwent extensive restoration for outdoor exhibition. With gratitude, the college recognizes Mike McNutt for his hard work in repairing these artworks, and give thanks to Harvey’s widow (Mary Harvey) for donating the sculptures. The exhibition honors and celebrates Harvey’s legacy of achievement and dedication at Allan Hancock College.
