The Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center is the home to CSU's Men's Basketball and Women's Basketball teams. The facility's 96,000-square-foot footprint includes seating of 4,500 for sporting and university events. It is named in honor of Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. a long-time supporter of the university and its athletics program and teams.
In addition to its role in university athletics, the Lumpkin Center is also home to the Department of Kinesiology & Health Sciences and many of its faculty. Departmental faculty and research spaces are also located nearby in the Health and Wellness Center.
In 2015, the Lumpkin Center court was named after former Men's Basketball coach and athletic director Herbert Greene. A 2008 CSU Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Greene, who won 481 games during his 25 years as head coach, played an active role in establishing the Peach Belt Conference in 1990 and oversaw 48 conference championships and five national championships as CSU's athletics director for 23 years.
The Lumpkin Center houses the Columbus State Athletics Department offices, the Hughston Clinic Sports Performance Center, the Champ L . Baker Jr. Athletics Training Room, the CSU Athletic Hall of Fame, and the President's Club.
