Bell Tower

0422 DeEbony 201 X3

Two hundred yards south of the Belmont Mansion stands the historic Bell Tower, which was used as a water tower on the Acklens' original estate and as a signal tower during the Civil War. The current Bell Tower includes a total of 42 bells weighing more than three tons and is one of only five carillons in the state of Tennessee.

Courtyard concerts are played at various times during the academic year. The carillon is also played for special campus events, including an annual Commencement recital. The annual tradition of a Christmas Eve concert, begun during Ward-Belmont days, has been continued with the Belmont carillon. All carillon concerts are open to the public without charge.

The Bell Tower is now captured in Belmont University's logo and is honored as the centerpiece of campus.
