Bengt Sjostrom Starlight Theatre

RVC Main Campus is home to the Bengt-Sjostrom Theatre, the area’s oldest outdoor playhouse. The first performance here was a 1967 production of Finian’s Rainbow. Since that time, students and area residents have enjoyed a variety of performances from community acting troupes and RVC’s theatre program.

It has become affectionately known as Starlight Theatre for its distinctive design and 200-foot retractable roof that, when open, provides a star-shaped view of the night sky. This state-of-the-art performance space features a 150-foot proscenium stage with a fully functional fly system. The cutting-edge sound system and stage house provide an acoustical barrier, ensuring audiences can fully enjoy every performance. The 42,000 square-foot theatre can accommodate up to 1,100 audience members in addition to 93,000 square-feet of lawn seating. Past performances have included productions of Mamma Mia and Westside Story, as well as a host of others.
